Lady May I?
In case you're wondering why I'm leading with a picture of this James Bond villain-looking yacht, it's because it's the same one on which Steve Bannon was arrested while cruising Long Island Sound this morning. The yacht, the 152 foot-long, $28,000,000 Lady May, is owned by a Chinese billionaire fugitive named Guo Wengui, a shady character with whom Bannon's been spending a lot of time this summer. Both guys are linked with GTV Media Group, a private propaganda outfit that's currently under federal investigation.
Bannon was indicted and charged this morning for embezzlement and fraud in connection with the We Build the Wall crowdsourcing scam that raised $25,000,000 when Trump was having his hissy fit with Congress that wouldn't allocate funding for his border wall. (The official site's still up, incidentally, probably because anyone who could take it down is in prison, including Brian Kolfage.)
Comically, Bannon, a gadfly of "coastal elites", actually held a podcast yesterday on this multimillion dollar yacht off the palmy coast of elitist Connecticut that featured none other than... Brian Kolfage, the man who in less than 24 hours would be one of Bannon's cellmates.
Seriously, Steve, you should've cleaned up before your imminent arrest by (Oh, irony of ironies) the US Postal Service. You look like the front man of a Three Dog Night cover band that only plays Ramada Inns.
Incidentally, GTV is under FBI investigation for its involvement in a much more massive fundraising fraud, namely $300,000,000 in exchange for stock in this "company" in which the investors never seem to get the stocks they pay for.
As you can expect, both Trump and Fredo are doing the Homer Simpson thing and are fading into the bushes claiming that they never supported the border wall fundraising scam. Except, uh...
And, uh...
And then there's this from the New York Times' archives in which Kris Kobach, perennially failed political candidate and rabid immigration/voter fraud hound, linked Trump to the crowdsourcing scheme to which Trump gave his blessings to it and gave Kobach permission to use his name in press releases, which he most certainly did.
Ye-e-e-eah.And that's just one problem for Trump on the legal front today. There's the Pennsylvania thingie and the Manafort thingie and the Manhattan DA's office thingie and... well, you get the picture. And it's still just 4:30.
And just in time for the mini CPAC carnival o' hate, aka the RNC convention.
