Sometimes Lightning Does Strikes Twice

The MA Dept. of Revenue is up to its old tricks again and levied our bank account for every penny I had and then some. Essentially this was my rent money for April. So if we don't make that money in the next 2 1/2 weeks ("Sorry, Eddie, I can't make the rent. No, this isn't an April Fool's joke."), I'm looking once again at being homeless. Those of you who've been reading me for a while may recall this happened to me last June when they stole $754 out of my bank account then told me the only chance I had of getting it back was to provide them with a court-ordered eviction notice.

The irony is the child support order that supposedly legitimized this latest theft was rescinded, along with all back child support, by the custodial parent the day after Xmas last year. So, even though the order is no longer in effect and the back child support no longer collectible, they're still going after me as if the order's in effect. Calls to their 800 # just resulted in a screaming match and no progress was made and my bank is shrugging their shoulders and are powerless to help.

So whatever help you can send our way would be immensely, and I mean, immensely appreciated. I also just contracted an ISP and got a house phone at $44-48 a month to aid in our job search and just paid my $45 excise tax with a check I now can't cover.

Don't keep your money in the bank. Use it as a check cashing facility, remove every penny the second the incoming check clears.

I can't get the video to load, dude. That's how much my NetZero connection sucks. Can you believe I'm paying for this? I can either surf the web and read... or I can watch videos. I cannot do both. And if I want something better, I have to upgrade and pay them even more money just to get halfway back to where I was before.

I've been there- thank god, my kids are all grown women now (hell, two of 'em are over 30) but I remember how the child support authorities are wired to fuck the non-custodial parent over. (and yes, I know there's a reason for that 'cause a lot of us are deadbeat fucks, but it does make life harder for those of us who do the right thing)

Good luck, bro.

I just sent a little something via PayPal, responding to a bleg from your friends over at Brilliant at Breakfast. Don't come here as often as I should, but as Ben Franklin so famously put it, "We must all hang together or surely we will hang separately."

I'd do more, but my goddaughter and her two kids (6-year-old girl and 15-month-old boy) are being evicted this weekend, also due to the usual bureaucratic fuckups (housing program cancelled, PA terminated without notice or explanation, etc.).

The money surely means more right now, but you also have my best wishes for a decent resolution (and better internet connection).

Sorry to hear this isn't helpful, but it's what I've got.

Just sayin' ...

Thx for spotting that. I have to change it back to P'ville. I haven't posted to Daily Dread since last July.

Hi, I was able to kick in a little donation. Never sure if Paypal will let me. Depends on how the person recieving has it set up. I used a personal check for the blogger trying to keep her mother from being evicted. I'm in the same state (Commonwealth of MA, not despair) as you. So howdy neighbor.

Wish I could help. Am about to be 70 yrs old and just got a child support check for the first time in ages. It was only 25 yrs overdue. Unfortunately, one of the children that I raised alone was homeless when I got the check so that's where it went.
Best of luck to you.

To Looser, whose comment wasn't even worth reading much less posting:

You'd be amazed how much money I've pulled in and how generous my readers have been. That's what it means to be a liberal: Having friends who help pick up the slack when the chips are down and not point their fingers and laugh at his misfortune.

You want particular numbers? Email me and I'll tell you.

Wanna know what else I found about you, loser? I can tell people about the websites you go to (and you wouldn't want THAT). Once someone knows your IP address (207.244.147.34), it's almost as good as knowing their Social Security #.
