The Butt-Slamming of America, DOGE Style

Imagine if, just a week or two after taking office in 2021, Joe Biden gave free rein over the government to Mark Cuban or Richard Branson. Imagine if they strong-armed their way into the USAID or OMB or Civil Service offices, began installing hard drives, installing servers and demanding personal data and threatening those who didn't comply with arrest by the US Marshal's Service and locking them out of their computers and even buildings.
Republicans would have been screaming at the tops of their lungs for the 25th amendment. And rightly so.
Up until two weeks ago, this would've been called espionage. And if Biden had done this, Republicans would have demanded his removal from office. They would've rightly called those acts espionage or, at the very least, a violation of the Pendleton Act of 1883.
But Biden didn't do any of those things because Joe Biden was an institutionalist. Trump is largely doing these things through his ultimate Dollar a Year Man, Elon Musk, an unelected, unappointed psychopath with histrionic gifts. Biden didn't wage war on the Justice Department that charged and convicted his son on two bullshit charges because he believed in letting the legal system run its course.
What we're seeing is not the destruction of our government but a transformation from a democratic republic into an instrument of vengeance that also seeks to enrich his billionaire cronies that, of course, enriches Elon Musk. Yet, Republicans' silence on the matter would put Trappist monks to shame. And, when they do pipe up about what Trump and Musk are doing, they cheer them on with open throats.
It's a coup, plain and simple. The ultimate Fifth Column.
Yes, two weeks ago, what we're seeing would've rightly been called espionage. The databases of our government, including that of the Office of Management and Budget, are being openly ransacked by a foreign-born tech bro who essentially bought the presidency with a quarter billion dollars.

For any of you reading this who want to take a leisurely stroll down Memory Lane and look back fondly on what the OMB used to do, check out this screengrab from the Biden White House website.
The OMB is, obviously, very important, to put it mildly.

And it's literally being invaded by an autistic sociopath who, until not so long ago, was a prematurely balding, weak-chinned weasel who won the sperm lottery and bought his way to the top of the corporate dung hill, a tech "genius" who invented nothing, holds no patents and has deep business ties with two of our biggest adversaries (Russia and China, who are openly crowing on their media about what DOGE is doing).
Oh, and he's openly supporting the neo Nazi movement in Germany.
Now, if this Viking-like raid and pillage of our financial and Civil Service systems was done with the silent consent of the rest of our government, that alone would be a crime. But what about if I told you it was all being done with the full support of the Department of Justice? You don't believe me? Read the letter sent to Musk through Twitter, on DoJ stationary, by Edward R. Martin, Trump's stooge running the DC office.
Martin literally invited Musk to make full use of his office so he could launch investigations and prosecutions against anyone who even tries to stand in his way.
And as for Trump. Musk's junior president? Well, of course Trump knows what side his bread is buttered on (Plus, Elmo knows what he did to illegitimately shoehorn him back in the White House) and claims Musk is getting rid of the ones who are "no good". That's a supremely ironic thing for him to say considering the pack of assclowns he's nominated and largely gotten confirmed thanks to invertebrate Senate Republicans.
The Night of Long Knives is now in its third week. The Nazis used guns. Musk is using pink slips despite having no authority and Trump lacking the authority to even give him that authority.
Note the lead image. That's a digitized clipping taken from the New York Times from February 10, 1933, just 11 days after Hitler took over as Chancellor of Germany. One of the first things he did was to start a trade war with Sweden and Denmark by raising their tariffs and ignoring the favored nation clause.
Tell me if anything in that lede from 92 years ago sounds familiar. Not only is Trump using Hitler's playbook, he's even moving at the same speed of Hitler's agenda. When Hitler wrote Mein Kampf in 1924 from his cushy prison cell, he told the German people exactly what he'd do if he ever took power then, when Hindenburg made him Chancellor on January 30, 1933, he set out to do exactly what he'd promised.
Trump tried not to run on Project 2025 and even comically tried to claim ignorance of its very existence and its authors, even though over 140 of them used to work for him. Project 2025 shamelessly laid out its fascist, racist, homophobic agenda and now that Trump's been crammed back in the White House, this criminal enterprise successfully posing as a government is doing just what they said they'd do.
Like Maya Angelou once famously said, when someone shows you what they really are, believe them.
