But What About the Shareholders?
The $1.6 billion dollar lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox "News" can be described by several means and with several metaphors- It's the proverbial kicked beehive, the hibernating bear poked by a sharp stick, turning off the cooling rods at a nuclear reactor.
I prefer to look at it and the massive tronche of text messages sent back and forth between Fox "talent" and Rupert Murdoch's own reluctant and monosyllabic testimony as the discovery of the Rosetta Stone of right wing thought.
Not that we needed one. We all know Republicans are all about power, money and market share, always have been and always will be. Back in the day, it was about Arbitron (Now Nielsen Audio) ratings and modest campaign donations. Now, we're talking billions of dollars and hundreds of millions of eyes and millions of hearts and minds that still faithfully tune in to America's network that is infamous for hiring liars, grifters, hasbeens and rapists and wouldbe rapists.
It'd be interesting to see what Frank Luntz would turn up by talking to a bunch of Fox viewers in light of the revelations that Fox hosts didn't, in fact, believe Camp Trump's increasingly silly and deranged conspiracy theories yet passed them on to their viewers, anyway, as if it was gospel from the mouth of Jesus.
Even Rupert Murdoch made it plain he wanted his hosts to turn down the election conspiracy rhetoric, just not too much so's people would notice and jump the Good Shop Murdoch for the dinghies of OAN or Newsmax.
Yes, it was all about Fox's market valuation, its stock price. That's how little Fox's executives and so-called talent thought of their viewers, that they chose to aim a 24/7 fire hose of bullshit point blank at those gullible bastards so they wouldn't disappoint their multimillionaire shareholders who wouldn't be caught dead near your typical pork rind-crunching Fox viewer.
And Murdoch, in his deposition, chose to throw some his biggest stars under the bus, saying he knew some of his hosts were spewing election lies yet chose not to do anything about it. Showing what a typical feckless corporate cunt he is, he threw Maria Bartiromo under the tires, not that she doesn't deserve it, because Bartiromo is one of those absolute, deranged True Believers. And, when asked by the attorneys why he gave a platform for Mike Lindell and his own deranged conspiracy theories, Rupert said it wasn't "about red or blue but green". Meaning the millions Lindell was still lavishing on the network for advertising.
Again, not that any of this is a shock. Right wing scum like Rupert and professional rich man's spawn Lachlan don't become billionaires by accident. They do it by shitting and spitting on the heads of the common man and even lying to them in their pursuit of world domination.
Or at least a bloated market share.

Glad to see you. I'm going thru the same thing with my mother-in-law, who has bee my best friend for years. She doesn't recognize most of the people around her anymore. It's hard. You have my thoughts with you.

While Murdoch and sons introduced the new plague (aka FOX News [sic]) to the U.S., I actually felt an ounce of sympathy for them when dealing with the elder Murdoch's third wife, Wendi Deng.
Now that is one gold-digging, man-stealing social climber and dragon lady. I hopes she gets her just deserts one day.
