Situation Report
Well, we're definitely leaving Arizona in less than four days or Halloween. We still have a ton of work to do in packing, pitching stuff and getting the house ready for the final inspection so the management company can decide how much of my roommate's deposit they're going to steal from him.
I'll try to post as often as I can between now and then because I don't know when we're going to cancel the wifi and internet access on the road to Florida will be spotty and intermittent at best. My roommate is planning on a couple of stay-overs at motels on I-10, which may may nor feature internet. The bottom line as I see it, we probably won't roll into Florida until November 4th or the day after Election Day. This puts a crimp in my plans because, as this is obviously a political blog, Election Day is typically the busiest time for me. And I won't even be able to post here on my phone because I got signed out of Google and I can't remember the fucking password.
I apologize in advance for this. While I'll be able to aggregate the news and follow election results on the evening of the 3rd, I won't be able to post about any of them (unless we stop off at a motel on Election Night that offers wifi). With all 435 House seats up for grabs, plus nearly three dozen Senate and several gubernatorial seats in play, I'll be on the outside looking in.
Then I'll be able to post regularly at our pit stop in Florida. Then, after an indeterminate number of weeks down there, we'll finally get on I-95 and go on another 3-4 day road to Massachusetts. Then, after that, where I end up is anyone's guess.
On another note, I just cracked 5,000,000 views for this blog. That may sound like a lot until you realize that this blog goes back to July 2008 or before Obama even got elected. That comes out to a little over 270,000 hits a year, if Google's analytics are to be be believed, which is certainly nothing to write home about (although, of late, you'll also note I'm getting nearly that many hits a month).
Of course, higher analytics doesn't necessarily translate to actual reach and influence, if the abysmally low number of comments I get each month is any indication.
Any way, I just wanted to give you guys, or however few of you who care if I live or die, a sitrep and let you know what was going on here in my waning days here in Phoenix. I'll send pictures of the road trip when we stop in south Florida.
