Tea Bagger Nation
“My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building.” – Ann Coulter to George Gurley, New York Observer, 2002
This is pretty much what we have to look forward to all day and all night long. For the George Romero faction of the conservative voter movement, the self-identified "Tim McVeigh wannabes" to emerge from their ideological graves on the 15th anniversary of McVeigh's most notorious act to protest this "radical administration."
Many of them, no doubt, will show up this Patriot's Day to show off their patriotic bona fides armed to the bared teeth to warn President Obama if he doesn't start toeing the line and running the country as a vocal minority sees fit than to start running between the bullets.
This would be the same "radical administration" that recently indicted by a grand jury not the Bush cabal that spied on Americans for years through the NSA but the NSA whistleblower who backed up the allegations with hard evidence.
But you know something? Today is their day. After all, these "real Americans" from "the real America" are the real patriots. So I'll let them tear the country apart a little more. Many will be wearing Sarah Palin tee shirts. Still others may even be politically incorrect enough to wear Tim McVeigh tee shirts. After all, this is his day, too. What can any of us do about it? We're all just spectators to one degree of passivity or another and unable to drive Dick Armey's rat hordes back into the shadows where they belong.
Me? After talking her into taking the day off, I'm taking the missus to watch the long-suffering Red Sox over lunch and a coupla beers at a sports bar and maybe catch a glimpse or two of the Boston Marathon. Life's too crazy to take seriously all the time even when the crazy gets on a personal level and lives less than a quarter of a mile east from you.
So I'm taking the day off and letting the Obama administration and those foaming-at-the-mouth ideologue zombies make bigger fools of themselves than they already have. It's a warm sunny day in Massachusetts and I'm gonna seize the day. Fuck the government and its critics and apologists.
