What the Hell Kind of a Country is This...
...where a state that can legalize gay marriage can then deny a boy his diploma at his graduation ceremony over a kiss? Not a real kiss, a blown kiss. To his mother.
Yet at Bonny Eagle High School in Maine last Friday, that's exactly what happened. Apparently, it's a violation of school policy to openly display affection or any kind of emotion.
If Sarah Palin could blow a kiss to Joe Biden just prior to last year's vice presidential debate and with impunity, then high school kids ought to be able to blow their Moms kisses while they're getting diplomas that their Moms had helped them earn.
But we're living in a Brave New Stepford society, people, and emotion is, like, so uncool, especially if you show it toward your mother.

The country's not all that effed up. Just cause some overzealous school administrator went overboard, don't get too excited. People make bad decisions all the time.

Sadly, though, this is not the first time I've heard of high schools leaning on kids too hard.
