Your Of Today's Engrish Lesson

About once or twice a year, I'll do a blog search to see who's been linking to me and I came across this inexplicable English translation of an old post I did called "Wheezy Old Bats." But for some reason, this person of indeterminate nationality (I'm starting to suspect Japanese) translated my original English into their native language then back into some simulation of English that the rest of us would call "Engrish." Thank goodness for Bablefish. Sample from the first paragraph:
Ever heard of the CCLU or the Christian Civil Liberties Union? Well, that’s no catch red-handed. Far from being a Christian tendril of the ACLU, the CCLU is in purport of act the analogue: They in fasten on inexplicable of assign ardent and aren’t done with suing fit the accurate to shiver up the handicapped dip of their townswoman library in West Bend, Wisconsin to tails of from the shelf and beau a carbon copy of Baby Be-bop. Baby Be-bop is a six year-old prequel of sorts to the Weetzie Bat series of novels fit sophomoric readers 12 and up sooner than Francesca Lia Block. Baby Be-bop is cranny Dirk, a sophomoric closeted gay despise who struggles with his sex particularity and attractant to his despise Pup. In the permitted blemish filed sooner than the CCLU, they asked that the assign be removed from the library, summarily burned, $120,000 in “damages” be paid inexplicable and fit the abandonment of the mayor. Four library dine members be undergoing been dismissed done with Baby Be-bop in animosity of Mayor Kristine Deiss’s encouragement to refit their condense.

With all that talk of tendrils and sex and fastening onto things, it makes my post sound like badly-written anime.

Apparently, no one's theoretically immune from such senseless circular translation. They seem to do this every day to someone and my guess is they're going for laughs. They're also kind enough to translate and retranslate the original comments to each post (For instance, Daveawayfromhome "wrote", "Lemme have a gang out this right, they dine members werent canned fit the Baby Bebop assign, they were canned fit dragging their feet on the wager cranny the Baby Bebop assign. notably Oh, yeah, that’s not the despite the fact emotional attachment at all."). Go compare my original to their long-winded translation if you really want to have fun.

(Btw, for those of you who haven't given to Pottersville in the last few months or ever at all, my fiancee and I would sure appreciate it if you could give a little to the Paypal account. Despite our best efforts to economize and going out every day looking for work, it looks as if we're not going to make it this month and my landlord using the future Mrs. JP as an excuse to gouge me for an extra $50 a month certainly isn't helping. I've already put all my DVD's up for sale on Craigslist and Barb's already volunteered to sell whatever she's got that's worth selling, although I've talked her out of it for now. Hopefully, something will break for us before the end of the month. God knows we're busting our butts trying to find something, anything, that'll pay the bills.)
