Oh, Please, Let's Keep These Clowns in Charge
We'd expect this from the 3 Stooges.
Professor Peter Lutz is listed in BP's 2009 response plan for a Gulf of Mexico oil spill as a national wildlife expert. He died in 2005.
Under the heading "sensitive biological resources," the plan lists marine mammals including walruses, sea otters, sea lions and seals. None lives anywhere near the Gulf.
The names and phone numbers of several Texas A&M University marine life specialists are wrong. So are the numbers for marine mammal stranding network offices in Louisiana and Florida, which are no longer in service.
These are just some of the Oops moments in BP's 582 page spill plan.
So remind me again why we're letting these corporate stooges take point in handling the greatest ecological disaster since Chernobyl, Bhopal and Love Canal?

Mankind hasn't just reached peak oil. (We wouldn't have to stick oil hoses one mile deep in the water and three miles deeper underground if we hadn't peaked on the easy stuff and now have to go after the hard shit.) We have reached "peak technology" because we don't have the tech to deal with what our tech wrecked. And I think our species has reached peak intelligence, too. We're just not smart enough to survive the world we've made. Our "speciesal" intelligence level is sliding backwards. Those BP motherfuckers are Example 1 of that.
