Gotham City Digest: Super Tuesday edition

(Trump: "I'm appointing a guy who don't believe in that science-y stuff.")

I know Trader Joe just died but, I'm sorry, I have to ask:
     Where's Mini Me?

The so-called Surgeon General of the US: "Stop buying masks." Is it because 3M can't make them quickly enough?

When you elect a circus clown who then surrounds himself with rodeo clowns, things like this happen.

This is a recent tweet by AOC that puts the lie to Bloomberg trying to rewrite his racist history by saying he "scaled back" stop and frisk. He. Did. Not. A judge did it for him. And Mayor Mike sulked and fumed after the ruling that New York City didn't "get a fair trial." Yeah, neither did the better than 5,000,000 people of color that stop and frisk victimized.

Steyer finally and mercifully ended his vanity campaign.

Our coronavirus czar, ladies and gentlemen...

In fact, we barely made the top 25 in the Global Democracy Index. Thanks again, Donnie Dumbo.

"If people truly want ours to be a race-blind politics, they can start by plucking that strange, low-hanging fruit from the Constitution."
Amen. Let's do away with this political relic and empower the black vote, for a change.

What a bullshit headline. It wasn't #Bernie who was stirring the pot but the reporter who couldn't let go of his 33 year-old statements about Cuba. (Tip o' the tinfoil hat to Constant Reader, CC.)

During the SC Primary, the crooked Iowa Democrat Party decided to give Pete Buttigieg even more delegates, even though he and Bernie finished with 26.2% of the vote. "We don't have time to correct every error," they said in excusing their sloppiness.
     They'd had since February 3rd.

He's doing it again, at the second CPAC in a row. I think it's time Old Glory take out a restraining order on him.

#DropOutBernie was trending on Twitter yesterday. After he'd raised $46.5 million last month? #OkBoomer.

Meanwhile, this is happening just north of me. Why would a much larger corporation like Grub Hub & Door Dash co-opt the logo of a much smaller corporation?

So Butthead, Joe and Amy are the frontrunners because they're the Democrat Cerberus? Pete hadn't won anything, Joe won a rigged primary and Amy's been finishing in single digits and no higher than 3rd. Well, Cerberus just lost two heads since Amy and Pete's dropped out.

He makes deals. He makes all the best deals.

      Another hit piece on Bernie.

Like the (grammatically incorrect) title says, it's 10,000 words-long. But it's also well worth the read if you have the time and inclination to educate yourself about the richest man to ever run for the presidency.

     Meme intermission.

So, in one day, both countries with which Trump signed empty agreements and treaties, North Korea and Afghanistan, thumbed their noses at us. Afghanistan immediately reneged on the Taliban prisoner exchange and in North Korea, little rocket man did what what he often does and launched two of his little rockets that went nowhere.
So, this is the art of the deal, huh? You know what the difference is between Donnie Dumbo and the dictators whom he holds in thrall? An ability to size up the other. They have it. Trump doesn't. They can size him up like a Soho tailor.
With Trump, they know he's guided and motivated by his ego, which all dictators have. But they also know he's all about flash and surface appearances, that he won't sign them to any onerous deals that can be enforced. They know he's only concerned with something he can take to his goober fans on the campaign trail. And they also know they can violate these pretend agreements without repercussions because they also know that when it comes to them, Trump's bark is worse than his bite.
When Trump killed Suliemani, he followed that up with a strongly-worded threat that there would be hell to pay if they harmed our troops. Then Iran promptly responded by shelling one of our bases in Iraq then another base that injured over 100 of our troops.
Trump did nothing in response. Kim Jong Un probably laughs at Trump every time he fires a missile knowing he won't do shit. And Afghanistan knows Trump won't do shit about them not honoring the prisoner exchange of an "agreement" for which Trump couldn't even be bothered to personally broker in Qatar.
These dictators know how to size up Trump and his Jovian-sized ego. They're also canny enough to know he hasn't got a snowball's chance in Hell of getting reelected no matter what Putin does and that they won't have to deal with him much longer. And right now, they're gettin' from him while the gettin's good.

You want to go after Biden? Screw Burisma. That's a dog that won't hunt. Go after him over this.

Looks as if Ken Coochie Coochie's days as an administration hack are numbered.

Kudos to the British Museum for thumbing their noses at #10. But this petty, Trumpian retribution comes off as childish and unnecessary. I've always admired Mary Beard's work ever since I saw her in a documentary about Pompeii.

Congressman Clark: "Ms. DeVos, charter schools are a failure."
Betsy: "Nnnno! NO! They are not!!"
      Congressman Clark: "Prove it."
      Betsy: "I can't."

More racist, right wing voter suppression, this one in Texas, one of today's primary states. We don't see this crap in Massachusetts. I've been going to the same polling place for over a decade.

      What a gorgeous horse.

"Maybe this issue could be Trump's Achilles heel and a shot in the arm for the M4A movement." (Anorher tip o' the tinfoil hat to Constant Reader, CC.)

Coronavirus just claimed its 3000th victim.

The inside story of why Buttigieg dropped out. (Not mentioned: Obama's secret phone calls to the Buttigieg and Klobuchar campaigns.)

tRump's buddy, vulture capitalist Paul Singer, just bought a huge stake in Twitter.

Oh, shut the fuck up, Meghan. You lost whatever little relevance you ever had when they planted your father.
And speaking of thugs, remember when a certain thug out of Jamaica Queens said in July 2015 that your father was only a war hero because he was captured?
THAT'S a thug. (A third tip o' the tinfoil hat to Constant Reader, CC.)

Typical right wing douchebag. Good riddance. It wasn't as if Klobuchar had a major following or any delegates to divert to anyone's campaign to begin with.

Your Aw! moment of the day: A dog surfing on a dolphin.

This blithering idiot's the frontrunner again because he won one fucking primary?

No surprise here. Angry Amy and Butthead chose to endorse the Senile Centrist on the same day, the day before Super Tuesday. The fix is in. Then Warren's going to drop out and do the same. Fucking. Thing.

Good but why blur out their faces again and continue protecting their anonymity?

Oh, wonderful. Now we're choosing name orders with a Bingo scheme. Voters, I especially, don't vote for the first name we see on a ballot. I vote for the person I want to vote for.

Again, he wins one fucking primary, gets the endorsements of three also-rans and suddenly he's back on top? We'll see if that holds true after Bernie takes at least 10 of 14 primary states today, including Texas and California.

       "I think I have coronavirus."
       "I think so, too."
"Can you confirm that with a test?"
       "No."
These are the official guidelines in Florida, believe it or not. Don't test for the virus, pretend as if it doesn't exist then tell the patient to self-quarantine and wait for the sweet release of death.

It's a helluva day when I agree with right wing meathead Ronna McDaniel, of all people, over another lying scumbag like Donna Brazile. This is the same woman, incidentally, who'd fed Hillary Clinton CNN debate questions in advance to, again, get an advantage over Sanders. Those crooks at the DNC did everything in their power to cripple Bernie and they even argued in court, successfully, that doing so wasn't illegal and that their donors should've already understood they were in the tank for Clinton. And now they're doing it again with Biden. So, fuck you, Donna, and your fake outrage. And finally...

More corporate scumbaggery. They deliberately slowed down older iphones to strongarm customers into buying new ones. The assholes at Apple wouldn't even admit to doing this. But what corporation would willingly shell out a half a billion dollars in a case they know they can win?
