     I don't know how an arch conservative like Liz Cheney became the GOP's Cassandra but here we are. Cheney's been saying what establishment Republicans like McConnell, McCarthy and Graham only said in the first days after the riots, yet no one suggested they be removed from their leadership positions. Their response to Cheney not letting the Trump/riot connection fall into the memory hole is rooted in pure misogyny.

While the Southern states wanted slaves fully counted to inflate their numbers, the compromise was actually agreed to by the Northern states to give the South more representatives than they ordinarily would have had. Consequently, this gave the institution of slavery more power than it would have had in order to get them to agree to support the Constitution.

     Which, as we all know, they did not.
