Status Update

    OK, after some fancy footwork, passing a credit background check and reluctantly giving up my social security number and banking information, I'm finally getting us back online on July 14. I hate like hell getting back into bed with Verizon since Mrs. JP and I have been using their cell phones since 2009. But, they have fiber optic service in our area, the rate is competitive, the service faster, so we're doing this.

     I still don't know why we lost our DSL signal but when I saw it was gone this morning, it confirmed my initial fear that this was a problem that would've never get resolved so Netzero is fired as my ISP. When I briefly described to the Verizon agent what my broadband experience with them was like, she actually burst out laughing, not that I could blame her. Really, it's literally one step above the dial-up we used to get with Compuserve in the mid 90s when people used to pay by the minute.

    But there will be little to no posting in the five days it'll take us to get back online.
