I've been keeping a quick eye here and there on the month-old GM-UAW strike. But it seems to me this $11,000 "ratification bonus" is just a carrot on a stick to make them overlook the fact that GM still insists in closing down three plants such as Lordstown. That 11 grand, which is taxable income, will only get used to pay down debts that have mounted since the strike began and they were reduced to just $250 a week on the picket line (which just got inched up $25 a week). You'd be surprised how fast $11,000 can go nowadays, especially when you have kids, car payments and a mortgage.
It has the ability to learn, solve moderately complex problems and can pass on information it learns.

This just broke about five hours ago- Trump's OTHER fixer, Bill Barr, is now widening the scope of his investigation into the Russia investigators. Politicizing the Justice Department, the same thing Bush did, is a crime and this, too, needs to be folded into the impeachment inquiries. Even with the lack of transparency, it's rather screamingly obvious this is being orchestrated by Trump at the top.

I don't know why the GOP is only just now kicking against this. Trump already signaled a day after the last G7 that he planned to hold the next one at Doral. I know, since I wrote about it last summer in a blog post entitled "The Lard of the Manor" (Which was linked to on Crooks & Liars.).
I'm amazed right wingers are still pulliing this shit. The Supreme Court already ruled decades ago that poll taxes were illegal. In the 19th century, blacks weren't allowed to vote in NYC unless they owned at least $250 in property. That meant that only a very small handful of African Americans in Seneca Village could vote in a city the size of New York. But by 1857, we found a way around that, too- We simply stole their land through eminent domain, razed their homes and Seneca Village became a large part of Central Park.
