Gotham City Digest

(Your prophylactic against the pecker snot of right wing disinformation)

Oh, NOW he doesn't want a wall when it could actually save lives. Maybe someone should tell him Mexican boat people are riding in on the wave. I bet he'd build that sea wall himself.

What Donnie Dumbo doesn't seem to understand is that those two journalists wouldn't've had a book if people didn't talk to them.
    People who work(ed) with Trump.
    People who KNOW Trump.

It's so sad and tragic they found her and murdered her at Auschwitz.

The two self-funding billionaires in the Democratic primary, Mike Bloomberg and Tom Steyer, have spent on ads a combined $320 million, out of $409.8 million spent in the presidential contest up to Jan. 13. And have little to show for it.
Joe Biden's spent $1.95 on telegraph messages.

There's a white power group out there who call themselves "the Base." How do you say "the Base" in Arabic?
    al-Qaeda.

Remember the cartoons where Bugs Bunny would stick his finger or a carrot in Elmer Fudd's gun and it blew up in his face?
Well, that's basically what Sanders did to Warren last week.

US Navy to name aircraft carrier after black man they wouldn't allow to fight and used as a bootblack.
This ought to make Trump's day.

Wonderful. This feeds right into Trump's narrative that all Puerto Rican officials are corrupt.

They recently found an 1,100 pound dinosaur bone in France. I'll die if they find  a 50,000 pound skeleton of a giant dog nearby.

Deaf man sues PornHub for lack of closed captioning. Because God forbid he wasn't able to read deathless dialogue such as, "Ooh, aah!", "Faster, harder!" and that perennial classic, "Hi, ma'am, I'm here to clean the pool."

If you gotta go, you might as well go doing the one thing you love most in the world. RIP, Dave Olney.

So, essentially, what we saw Monday at the #VirginiaRally is the world's fattest cosplayers demanding the right to bear arms on the day commemorating a black man who was murdered with a rifle. The tone deafness is astounding.

Because a totally innocent man would want his trial to be aborted before exonerating evidence can be brought out.

You just can't make this shit up.

Does this make her the Queen of England?

I don't suppose they discovered this guy, Fiona Hill's replacement, was a mole, do you?

This goes back 4 1/2 years but it's still an incredible story.

     New CNN poll:
51% of Americans say Trump should be *removed.* Only 45% say he shouldn't
69% say Senate trial should feature new witnesses
58% say Trump abused his power
57% say he obstructed House impeachment inquiry.

     Meme intermission.

Whether you choose to call him #MoscowMitch or #MidnightMitch, one fact remains: He's 10 fathoms deep in the tank for Trump and the American people will NOT let him get away with this transparent chicanery.

This is what a female WaPo reporter saw in Richmond on Monday. The stupid was thick enough to cut with a survival knife.

Pardon me if I err but isn't this how THE THING began?

This lawyer brings up a very interesting point. Why does John Roberts have to play by Mitch McConnell's rules?

Damn, it's been just over a year now and I still miss Dolores.

Proof that either God doesn't exist or that he's got a really twisted sense of humor.

Sweet Jesus, why won't this noxious harpy Hillary Clinton go away? #ILikeBernie

As far as I can see, the Democrats proved Trump's guilt in the House, so no new witnesses are necessary. But #MidnightMoscowMitch's insistence on none or new evidence proves the @GOP knows he's guilty & are busting a nut to cover it up. #ImpeachmentTrial

AMERICAN DIRT didn't drop until Tuesday so I haven't had the chance to read it. Still, while its very existence necessarily invites arguments about cultural appropriation and whether or not sensitivity readers are necessary, I will say this:
That it doesn't surprise me that a bunch of brain-dead, avaricious literary agents, editors, publicity agents and executives lunged at this book about a Mexican migrant written by a white woman and, apparently from the inescapable POV of a horrified white woman with, seemingly, insight in the matter no more profound than that of your typical summer tourist.
The fact is, she got seven figures in a riotous nine house auction for a coopted story about a coopted culture while real Mexican and Mexican-American authors are, like me, getting form letters from those same brain-dead literary agents or getting a tiny fraction of the advertizing bucks Cummins is getting for her book.
More than anything, it invites a discussion about white privilege in a white dominated industry, a subject the author of this article only tiptoes around at the end.

Oh dear, Mr. Creosote is dead. Rest easy, sir.

This goes back 4 1/2 years but it's still an incredible story.

If you see Don Jr or Eric Trump wearing Mr. Peanut's monocle, be suspicious. Be very, very suspicious.

     Once more with feeling: #BernieBeatsTrump

You'd think the MSM would be screaming about this to rally around one of their own. But you'd be wrong.

Can Piers Morgan possibly be more of an inflamed phallus? Well, the year is still young.

But, yes, women are too emotional.
Whatever Trump and/or the Russians have on Mizz Lindsey, it must be a fucking pip. I just hope I live long enough to see what that is.

"You know, we have to protect Thomas Edison, and we have to protect all of these people that, uh, came up with, originally, the light bulb and the wheel, and all of these things.” Head, meet desk, desk, head.

“But honestly we have all the material. They don’t have the material.”
Obstruction is one of the two articles of impeachment and he just admitted it.

From the "Damn, I wish I'd put this in my crime novel!" files...

Blurb for "American Dirt": "Lydia Quixano Pérez runs a bookstore in Acapulco, Mexico, where she lives with her husband, Sebastián, who is a journalist, and their son, Luca. When a man starts visiting her store, buying books and striking up a friendship, she has no idea initially that he will be responsible for turning her life upside down. But Lydia and Luca will have to flee Acapulco."
Blurb for Desperado, 1995, via IMDb: "Bucho was responsible for the death of El Mariachi's girlfriend and put a bullet through his fretting hand, making him unable to play the guitar. Bent on revenge, the musician-turned-killing machine arrives in town to put Bucho out of business, though he finds few allies except for Carolina (Salma Hayek), who runs a bookstore that doesn't seem to attract many readers."
Stop me if this starts to sound familiar.

Meanwhile, this happened Tuesday night while Hakeem Jeffries was stating the managers' case. He was screaming about Schumer being the Devil, abortion, Democrats' overturning the election results and dismissing the articles of impeachment.
He obviously gets all his news from Trump's Twitter feed and his potential dates from bathroom walls.

And Abby Huntsman hated you so much, bitch, you made her quit. Her father's campaign was just a cover story. So fuck YOU.

I was amazed to see MSNBC even willing to take on Democratic Socialism in 2018 much less actually nail it in 90 seconds. Good for her.

I don't give a shit what Pence mouthpiece Katie Waldman says. Pence got snubbed by Prince Charles. End of story.

Bank calls cops on black man for trying to cash check he was awarded in a racial discrimination lawsuit.

Even Matt Gaetz is ridiculing the WH Counsel's strategy.

This is how seriously Republicans are taking this impeachment trial. And finally...

But, hey, never mind the Doomsday Clock getting reset to 100 seconds before annihilation. Wall St's making more money than ever!

"I’m a conservative woman. I can’t stand him," said McCain about Sanders.

Yet she couldn't see the irony of her statement, given that her father had been smeared by the likes of Trump and whose military service was swiftboated by people who didn't serve and/or were expected to look up to it due to their political affiliation.

That McCain and Clinton are on the same boat shows that Clinton has always been Republican lite.
