The Corvette is Still the Most Interesting Thing in Joe Biden's Garage
(Tip o' the tinfoil hat to Constant Reader, CC)
The right wing is going to be short-stroking this even after Biden is put six feet under. Here are the stark differences between Trump and Biden:
We're
talking about a vast disparity in the amount of documents that were found in
both homes and the Penn Biden Center. The day they executed that search
warrant in Mar a Lago, August 8th, the FBI found over 10,000 pages, many of them classified and quite a few of them classified Top Secret.
At the Penn Biden Center, they found far fewer, not even close to a dozen.
Trump
bitterly fought tooth and nail to keep from giving the documents back
even after he was ordered to by the DOJ. And then on at least two occasions, he demanded they give him back the documents that simply don't belong to him.
Biden and his lawyers gave
theirs up immediately. Scores of documents Trump had were labeled Top
Secret, including the nuclear capabilities of other nations. Not one
document found at Penn Biden was described as being Top Secret.
Outgoing
presidents and vice presidents aren't expected to pack their own boxes
but Trump was seen by at least one eyewitness going through countless
boxes of documents before leaving the White House. Trump knew what he
was taking, Biden has plausible deniability that he even knew what his
staff packed, or didn't pack, for him at the Penn Biden Center.
What
makes this look bad for Biden is that at least six classified documents
were found in his garage and his personal library in Wilmington. That
more than suggests Biden put them there by his own hand. That's not so
easy to explain away.
But
leave it to the right wing to blow this completely out of proportion,
as if what Trump did in stealing literally thousands of documents,
including Top Secret ones, is fine and dandy but what Biden did somehow
justifies resurrecting the guillotine.
And another troubling fact is that it took Merrick Garland 2 years to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Trump. Garland took 2 days to sic one on Biden. That's
what I have a hard time wrapping my mind around. It's not just the
usual hypocrisy of the right wing- It's the disparity in time tables of
the DOJ.
All of which more strongly suggests that Democrats have to face scrutiny immediately for middling infractions of the law but Republicans have the luxury of being considered innocent until proven guilty for years on end, even when their guilt is incredibly palpable.
