Tatterdemalion redux
Back when I thought I still had money to burn (last month), I decided to think a little bigger and hire a professional book promoter to pimp Tatterdemalion. Like many writers, I'm famously incompetent and apathetic to the very idea of marketing and promotion. What I know about that I could write on a matchbook with a grease pencil.
So, remembering that my Facebook friend Heidi Angell in Salt Lake City, Utah is just that, I paid for her to promote Tatterdemalion for a full year across the entire spectrum of her social media presence. She and her husband needed the money, I needed the publicity because this book deserves much, much wider exposure than I've been able to give it and it seemed like a good partnership. My instinct is always to spread the wealth like the closet Socialist that I am.
Heidi does two videos, the unboxing after it arrives and a review of the book after she reads it. This is the unboxing video in which she gives her first impressions of the cover design, book formatting, etc. Presumably, she'll post a written review on Amazon, Goodreads and wherever else she can leave them.
The audiobook is coming along smoothly and my narrator and I are now within 15 chapters of finishing the project. In fact, I just got seven new chapters from her late last night. I decided to bring into the project a professional actress named Tracie Frank, a Massachusetts native who now lives in North Carolina. She's a veteran thespian of film and television and, if you have the time or inclination, go check out her Youtube channel and you'll see how good she is.
