Where Democracy isn't quite dead but it's got one foot in John McCain's coffin.
How neoliberalism is dominating, and destroying, the world as we know it. The one question I want answered is: Why are we letting this happen when neoliberalism has such a poor track record of success?
President Barack Obama today at John McCain's memorial service:
So much of our politics, our public life, our public discourse can seem small and mean and petty, trafficking in bombast and insult and phony controversies and manufactured outrage. It’s a politics that pretends to be brave and tough but in fact is born of fear.Meanwhile, by way of illustration, this is what Trump was putting out at the same time on Twitter:
Of course Trump blew up the NAFTA negotiations with a stupid off-the-cuff remark. Of course he did. That's what he does.
If you to want to know why Trump won't be at John McCain's funeral today, look no further than his conduct at his own father's funeral in 1999.
Oh, this is rich. 100 right wing nut jobs who work for the social media platform that got Donald Trump "elected", a company in which its CEO has donated mega bucks to Republican campaigns, is whining about Facebook's "intolerant liberal culture."
Hey, here's an idea: Go work for fucking Hannidate. Oh. wait. That went bust a decade ago.
You weren't supposed to notice this. But an FOIA request and appeal shows that Trump funneled tax dollars to his kids.
A man named Ryan Coleman once worked for a construction outfit named Dahled Up Construction. The problem started when the evangelical owner decided to bully his employees into attending mandatory Bible Study meetings. Eventually, Mr. Coleman got tired of these mini Jebus Camps and informed his boss he would stop attending. His boss, Joel Dahl, then fired him on the spot over the phone. Ryan's now suing Dahl for $800,000 for lost wages and infringing on his First Amendment rights of freedom of religion. I hope he wins and puts this evangelical nut bag out of business.
It came out that Bank of America is freezing the assets of their account holders suspected of not being citizens. As if it's the responsibility of Wall Street banks to check immigration statuses. This is just like what the Nazis and, yes, Wall Street banks such as Chase and Morgan did to Jewish bank accounts.
Satire? Sadly, no. This is an actual campaign poster for Ted Cruz, using a Photoshop job done by one of Cruz's critics. Yes, the Texas GOP has completely lost its fucking mind and is portraying Cruz as a member of MS-13. You know, the street gang with which Trump is obsessed.
And how did all this silliness come about? Because the typically tone deaf Texas GOP thought it would be a good idea to ridicule Beto O'Rourke for his heavy metal days.
I dunno, I'd rather have the cool heavy metal bassist for a senator instead of Michael Meyers. But that's just me
The news just keeps on gettin' better. Manafort/Trump/Putin stooge Sam Patten pleaded guilty yesterday to being "an agent of a foreign principal, to wit, the Opposition Bloc (a Ukrainian political party) and its members, without registering." Like the Butina case, this was tried in a Manhattan courtroom. So why are so many of Mueller's cases getting handed off to New York? Because Mueller's very aware that Trump wouldn't have presidential pardoning powers for convictions rendered in state courts. You weren't supposed to notice this. Well-regulated militia now even more regulated after threatening to murder Boston Globe reporters while screaming the Trump catchphrase "the press is the enemy of the people." Which Trump tweeted again just hours after this goober got arrested.
Now, here's an interesting development: All six Oklahoma lawmakers, monumental pieces of shit who opposed raises for teachers, were voted out in last week's primaries.
Oh and speaking of monumental piece3s of shit, look how Donald Trump decided to honor federal workers right before Labor Day: By axing their 2.1% pay increase, which wouldn't have even kept pace with the Consumer Price Index for one year. Why? Because we can't afford it after giving $1.4 trillion to the 1% for corporate welfare and then spending $717 billion on defense. But wait, there's more:
Just hours after playing Scrooge with over 2,000,000 federal workers, Trump then devised a way to hand the uber wealthy yet another $100 billion in tax breaks. And finally...
While everyone is thinking about Sen. McCain's funeral tomorrow, let's travel to the future to Donald Trump's own funeral...

Meanwhile, the Dems are doing this:

That's why I give the Repubs a 50-50 chance of retaining control of Congress in November and Trump the same odds of being re-elected in 2020.
