Out With the Old Lion, In With the New

"President Bush often had to walk like a knowing lion — like a knowing lion, Mr. Speaker, through the chattering of hyenas." - Rep. Trent Franks (R-the Savanna)

Last Thursday, three Republicans tearfully eulogized the Bush legacy in the House, likening him to "a knowing lion".

Some facts about male lions are in order:
  • Male lions are amazingly lazy, sleeping on average for 20 hours a day. They do little if any work.

  • They prefer to let the females do the hunting, the cub-rearing and virtually all business of the running of a pride.

  • They eventually get killed or pushed out of the pride by a younger, stronger African lion.

  • Here endeth Pottersville's zoological lesson for the day.

    Perfect, JP.
    Perfectly pathetic.

Speaking of chattering of hyenas... Do these guys not have one exposed mirror in their homes?

You think these paper tigers actually believe GWB handled their security with one more iota of competence than he did everything else? The lot of them are fawning, servile minions of avarice.

And BTW, this is company time, you partisan hacks, get to work. Waxing poetic of failure is not the people's business.

One historic event repeatedly comes to mind - Bastille Day.

    A boy can dream... right?

Isn't this 'knowing lion' thing a biblical reference? I don't speak 'bible' so I can't be sure. One reason I could never be a Christian is that 2000 year old middle-eastern iconography (lions, lambs, shepherds, etc) mean nothing to me.

For example, the 'camel passing through the eye of a needle' does not refer to a sewing needle. A camel needle is really a fence stile, a hole in a wall or fence that people can fit through, but camels can not. I get so irritated by American evangelical Christians that have NO clue what their own religious iconography even means, yet they demand that I fervently believe their nonsensical 'religion'.

As to the mirror of the chattering hyenas, the Republicans live in a fantasy world of their own making, so when they do look into a mirror, the see a full-scale LSD-like hallucination.

I believe they must give code-speak and damage control classes in GOP school. I notice an eerie similarity between current day events and behaviors witnessed two decades ago. Lie, blame, distract, and when all evidence is incontrovertible, deride witnesses as "crazy" and destroy their lives and credibility. And on the odd occasion of comeuppance being unavoidable, they whine about mercy and turning the other cheek.

Christ, people - wake up. Do the words lying, cheating, chickenshit scumbags not mean ANYTHING?

Why should they even bother with a new play book - apparently this one is still working fine...

Doesn't the overthrow of the old lion usually involve flesh-ripping and massive blood loss on the part of the old one? Can we have that done, please? Preferably on pay-per-view. It would be worth $19.95 for me to watch.
