Some Days You Bite the Snake and Other Days...
The good news is that even without Congress's and the president's help, I got another 33 weeks of extended unemployment benefits that were signed into law by MA Gov. Deval Patrick. The president's/Congress' extended benefit bill wouldn't take into effect until well into next year.
Obviously, I rather be working. Old people have to lived on fixed incomes. I ain't old but living on $162 a week (after child support) is.
The bad news?
An hour after I got my claim extended, the transmission of our car shit the bed last night so now we're without a way of getting Barb to work and back 6 miles away. Essentially, we're looking at least $2000 this month for car repairs and rent without even mentioning food, gas, car insurance that it now looks as if we don't need and less than $1600 with which to do it. We're about to look into ride shares on CL and elsewhere but this year's not ending any better than it started for me.
I'll keep ya'll apprised when internet access and opportunities present themselves. Provided I'm not literally as well as figuratively snake-bitten.
