Heat Wave Open Thread

It's too fucking hot even to blog. Especially after spending an hour and a half in a laundromat. It's exactly 100° here in central Massachusetts which, believe it or not, is hotter than Vero Beach, Florida. You wanna know how hot it is?

Trees are following the dogs.

Politicians actually had to take their hands out of our pockets.

The Damned are glad to be where they are.

Benjamin Netanyahu feels right at home in Washington, DC.

We're eating out tonight; I'm cooking dinner inside my car.

My cat's learned how to turn on the AC.

Yeah, that hot.

So, tell me how global warming, er, climate change is in your neck of the woods?

How hot?

Man, there is definitely such a thing as too hot.

Hope it's over soon.

Sorry to hear about the heat. In the northern central valley of calif. it's normal mid 90s during the day and high 50s at night. It was a long winter but most crops around me are back to normal. I'm sure somewere in the next few months well see a period like you are now. Stay cool

It's so hot and humid in the Twin Cities that droplets of water on the plants, from last night's rain, hadn't yet evaporated by mid-afternoon.

Ugh.

Well it reached plus 100 in Baltimore and Martha and the Vandellas sure knew what they were singing about. Peace. Naten

First we had the catastrophic floods in early May, then unrelenting heat and now drought. May was unusually hot, and the daily highs throughout the month of June were more like what we get in mid-to-late July: low-to-mid-90s, with a heat index typically five or six degrees higher, because of the humidity.

The humidity's eased a bit in the last few days, but it's still hot and now we really, really need the rain: it's drier than a Dorothy Parker bon mot.

Ugh, fer sure.

And there's the west coast...on my back porch in Santa Monica the morning temp. today was 58°, the high temp about 63°.

Something is radically different...do you know what it is?

Since it's an open thread, and I like to try and tip you to information as you have so often done for me, have you ever heard of Max Keiser? He's a savvy, sarcastic former Wall Street insider who go sick of the shenanigans, moved to Paris and now writes a blog and does Webcasts (ironically, on Russian TV. How weird is it, that Americans need to turn to Russian television to find some truth behind their own TV propaganda?)

Anyway, this video segment touches on American media censorship, among other things. You've been on about that lately. Keiser has some interesting economic and political takes.

Love it. I like this guy, P'ville reader.
