A Tale of Two Countries

The expression on the faces of these guests was illuminating. Varying from smug smiles, to fearful stares at the ground to unbridled anger mixed with fear. Mostly smug. Some amused. These are very rich people whose lives have been built on stepping on people. - Michaela, Let Freedom Rain

As I said in yesterday's post about the Vancouver Club, a swanky place for wealthy child molesters at which Dick Cheney spoke last night, I've been researching and drafting a novel about a global child abduction ring and a former Soviet/NYPD detective's attempts to take them down. I thought that, in this middle installment of this trilogy, I'd created some pretty horrible bad guys and set up a chilling scenario only based on historical fact.

But what I've been digging up on the Vancouver Club and the scumbags who protect them, including the highest levels of the Canadian government and judiciary, makes me feel as if I don't know anything, as if I'm relearning how to walk, speak and spell. Once again, imagination is trumped by real life. I have to rethink and reappraise everything I've come to expect from a world that creates such monsters. As cynical as I've been in my middle age, I now have to acknowledge that the world, especially Vancouver BC, is a much, much more evil place than we'd suspected. It's also more open about it.

If you want to know what I know, you can do worse than start with this nearly 5 year-old article in Canadian Dimension. It gives you the abstracts of the nightmare endured by Jack Cram and Renate Andres-Auger. Cram, you may remember from yesterday's article, is essentially Canada's answer to Susan Lindauer. Cram was once a respected barrister in the Vancouver area until he was dragged out of a courtroom while trying to present a case about the Vancouver Club and the complicity of the Vancouver Courts and Police Department. Cram was put in handcuffs, dragged down to the dungeon beneath the judge's bench and was prevented from presenting his case.

Also like Lindauer, Cram was jumped after giving a radio interview by ten Vancouver cops, repeatedly injected in a van with mind-distorting drugs and committed to the psychiatric ward of Vancouver General Hospital. That in itself immediately undermined Cram's once-sterling credibility. Later, Cram was disbarred for a year by the astoundingly and shockingly corrupt Law Society and could qualify for reinstatement only if he agreed to psychiatric counseling for that year. Renate Andres-Auger, the Cree attorney who'd hired Cram when her law practice was essentially destroyed by the Powers That Be in Vancouver, had faced similar treatment. Andres-Auger, obviously close to the indigenous population and knowing all too well about the abduction of native children, was the first Canadian attorney who'd first made the allegations regarding the connection between Vancouver's thriving child trafficking industry (they'd poach children from surrounding Indian schools) and the Vancouver Club.

To paraphrase Canadian Dimension, what Andres-Auger and Cram knew and were prepared to do obviously was going to hurt a lot of powerful people and they had to be stopped.

To those of you who think that Canada is some nice, bland, genteel country not given to violence, you're only partially right. Yesterday's protest at 915 Hastings Street featuring a surprisingly tiny police presence calmly looking at peaceful protesters without incident (in contrast to the travesty of law enforcement at the Occupy Wall Street encampment) would seem to bear that out.

But keep in mind this is also the very same Vancouver Police Department that engages to a shocking degree in something called "the hooker game." According to deposed witness Annie Parker, who called the police looking for protection from her abusive ex husband and wound up instead being victimized by that same VPD, one quarter of the city's police as well as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is in on "the hooker game" and the other 75% know about it yet do nothing. That number also includes the Mayor and the Chief of Police.

The first phase of "the hooker game", to them, is relatively harmless: It involves the abduction of women who are then injected with mind-altering drugs and hypnotic barbituates such as Scopalimine that incapacitate them and they're then raped and videotaped before being released. This brings to mind the footage filmed by Orwell's secret police in 1984 which is then recycled to the proles. What's most surprising is where these videos of rape and torture are filmed:
Soon after the assault of the witness by MICHAELSON in the spring of 2000, she was taken by MICHAELSON to one of the locations of the "hooker game": a "clubhouse" for policemen in either the penthouse of the Century Plaza Hotel or in the basement of the Hotel Georgia in downtown Vancouver. Witness claims that this clubhouse hosts a "pornographic film studio where woman are raped and tortured on film". MICHAELSON is described by the witness as "a pimp and drug dealer for all the Vancouver cops and their friends ... a lot of the dealing goes on at the clubhouse."

I haven't even gotten to phase two, which allegedly involves snuff films and body disposal sites. Two of the RCMP cops named in this second phase of "the hooker game" are or were members of a Missing Women's Task Force, thereby in a position to "investigate" the disappearances of the women they abduct.

If this sounds like hazy, drugged-fueled conspiracy theories, I ask you to judge for yourself whether or not the specificity is consistent with that of an unreliable witness:
12. Witness claims that both DAVE and STEVEN are also associated with BOUDRAIS and have raped and murdered women with him, including Brianne VOTH, age 19, who was abducted, raped and drowned in 2004 in Coquitlam by BOUDRAIS and STEVEN, in association with a prostitute named Stella MALLOWAY.

13. Witness was told by MICHAELSON that either DAVE or STEVEN own a cabin that serves as a body dumping site for women killed by them, BOUDRAIS and others. The cabin is located ten minutes' drive west of Horseshoe Bay on the Sea to Sky Highway, in a hunting camp off a dirt road. Bodies are dumped in a metal cistern at this site.

Aside from an exact address, this is about as specific as you can get.

If that sounds horrible, imagine being a small aboriginal child abducted from your safe, warm bed in your school in the middle of the night by men you don't know, smuggled through the back of a building (such as the Vancouver Club) in the dark where you're then molested by wealthy men.

Imagine never seeing your friends and loved ones ever again once you've served your usefulness.

Now imagine being a well-respected attorney who devotes his or her life to helping the downtrodden such as the indigenous native population victimized by crooked attorneys, land grabs by the Crown and children who are regularly poached in the middle of the night for the sexual gratification of the wealthy. Imagine trying to present your case through proper and legal channels, being ignored then abruptly handcuffed, thrown in a cell then kidnapped, tortured, drugged and committed, your career in tatters.

That is what openly goes on Canada, particularly Vancouver, British Columbia and all with the enormous resources of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Vancouver Police Department, the Law Society of Vancouver, the mayor, the chief and many other wealthy and powerful purveyors and defenders of violent porn and murder.

And now, Dick Cheney has already pimped his new book in the middle of all this, a man who in that very same book freely admitted to torturing people. I don't know about you folks but since last night, I've never been prouder to be an American.

JP, I don't believe this "hooker game" stuff. I work in the psych ward at VGH now. We get a lot of drug addicts and prostitutes in as patients when they get manic or suicidal after meth binges. Nobody's ever intimated anything like this to me, and I hear some weird stories.

Paranoid schizophrenics can write some convincing stuff when they're in the early stages of their life, before the schizophrenia wrecks their ability to function. I've had a number of patients in who have had their own conspiracy websites, although I will say the "fedgeno" writing was more coherent than my patients'. Still, I'm skeptical of everything, even the skeptical stuff.

Vancouver is no nicey-nice paradise, no more so than any big city. The RCMP and VPD have their share of scumbags, just like any police forces. But overarching conspiracies, with Masons and Knights of Malta -- strikes me as a paranoid fever dream. I shall read this more closely, and ask around about stuff in it. I've got a few co-workers on the ward who have been around that area for decades and are conspiracy-minded. I'll show 'em the "fedgeno" site and see what they think. But just because something is emphatically written on the Internet does not mean it's true.

I'm also ticked off that the local peace group, whose e-mail list I'm on, did not alert me that Cheney was going to be in town. They let me know when Cynthia McKinney was speaking here about Libya. I attended that one, and I sure as hell would have protested against the war criminal.

Well, as far as paranoid delusions go, Annie's account is amazingly precise in that she'd named names and gave specific locations as to where the bodies, literally, were buried.

And the sordid history of the Vancouver Club is a matter of public record. We know for a fact the local police as well as the RCMP have intimidated and otherwise provided interference for these pedophiles. I'm not going by one account I'd read on the internet, Bukko. You can ask Mrs. JP. I've been reading up on these people for days and have gleaned multiple accounts. I just haven't linked to all of them for the sake of avoiding redundancy.

Since you work in the psych ward at VGH, keep your eyes and ears open. Ask some of the oldtimers there if they remember Jack Cram, the lawyer who tried to blow the lid off this scandal 17 1/2 years ago. That's where they'd forcibly committed him in the mid 90's and brought there pre-drugged and in shackles by the VPD after he'd given a very revealing radio interview.

We have several nurses on the ward who have worked here since 1981, so I'll ask them. (I know everyone's start dates well, because I've been through a "rotation" -- hospital jargon for "reducing the number of jobs on a ward and forcing people to scramble" for the second time in less than a year. The first time, I was "displaced" -- hospital jargon for "RIFfed" -- from my job on the medical ward, so I landed in psych, which I like better than dealing with shit and piss and blood and death all the time. This "rotation" I had enough seniority at the hospital so I "bumped" someone lower down the totem pole. Thank goodness for union rules, which means the workplace has to treat us fairly.) The thing is, we tend to remember the more bizarre people who are admitted time after time, not the rational ones.

I don't know how it worked in the mid-90s, but people are not just locked in the looney bin on a whim. These days, police can drag people to the emergency room if they're acting oddly. But first they're checked out by a psychiatric triage nurse, and then they have to be "certified" (i.e. written up on an official form as being mentally disturbed) by a doctor. Within 48 hours, they have to be certified by a second doctor. Then they can be held for a month. The patient has the right to apply for a "review panel," which is like a psychiatric habeas corpus hearing. It takes two weeks on average for these to happen, though, and patients are usually discharged beforehand.

Along the way, patients talk to lots of psych nurses, social workers and other staff. We're good at figuring out peoples' states of mind. If someone was flat-out sane and being held improperly, it would come to light. I give injections to people when they're out of control, but I don't shoot people fulla Loxapine and lorazepam if they're non-violent and coherent.

Even the hospital has an incentive NOT to hold someone falsely, because all our beds are full pretty much all the time. The administration doesn't want a "bed blocker" in here for no reason.

I have had one woman whose daughter disappeared. Sad case (the patient), a First Nations with drinking and depression problems. She led a harsh life, and her daughter was on the same path. The patient said she sometimes "hears" her daughter talking to her, which might be psychotic delusion (major depression can do that to the mind) or it might just be the way that Natives relate to their feelings. Or it could be something spiritual. Aboriginals, whether here or in Oz, think differently than we whitefellas do. But even this patient, in her more rational moments, never said anything about a "hooker game."

Since you're trying to be a novelist, I thought I'd clue you to a guy who did it by his Doc Marten bootstraps here. Chris Walter is this former drug addict/punk rocker who writes gritty novels about the "Downtown Eastside," Vancouver's Skid Row. He self-publishes at something he calls "Gofuckyourself Press." The dude definitely has a "voice" and I've bought several of his books. Nothing about the "hooker game" in his stuff. If you're way curious about the veracity of that story, you should e-mail him. You can find his addy on the "Contact" tab.

Cram, to the best of my knowledge, was committed by another attorney, oddly enough, the same one opposing him in court. How convenient.

And I'm not "trying" to be a novelist. I AM a novelist, the best unpublished one in America, and I'm just trying to get certain dummies in my profession to see that. I've think I've gone way past mere ambition.

Surprisingly (to me, at least) two of the nurses DID have a vague recollection of this Cram fellow. One thought his last name was "Cran" but a bit of Oogling showed your spelling was correct. They didn't remember much about him, and I couldn't tell you even if they did, because of patient confidentiality rules (and because I don't want to be an asshole who blabs personal information.) Since he has admitted he was here, I can confirm that.

The reason these other nurses remember him is because he sued the hospital, which is no doubt public record. I don't give a rat's enough to dig up details on the lawsuit. The impression I got from these nurses is that Cram is a guy who likes suing. He oughta be an American!I get the impression that he's a litigious gadfly.

One of them recalled that he is not the only one from the family tree who has had involvement here, but more than that, I cannot say, due to confidentiality.

Neither of these nurses knew anything about the "hooker game." They weren't even curious enough to read the websites you linked to. One scanned the two paragraphs in your blog post that pertained directly to the hospital, and the other didn't even bother with that. Neither was interested in the Website with the lurid green lettering.

It gobsmacks me that so many people do not care to find out more about what's going on, even when it's literally in front of them, as these posts were. I want to know stuff, even if it's stuff I believe to be overblown and bogus, as I regard the hooker game tale. But with that site and yours, it's like I was trying to get them interested in the politics of some obscure African nation, as much zest as they showed for it. And it's something about their town, and the hospital where they've worked for a long time...

That's part of why it's easy for the bastards at the top to fleece the sheople. The bleating ones don't give a shit as they're fleeced and slaughtered. Canadians are particularly compacent. The American nurses I knew, partly because so many were Filipino, cared little about politics and current events. Aussies, at least, tended to like a good scandal. I would have gotten more of a rise from people there.

Also on the literary front, while I was talking to the wife of another patient, she clued me to a local author named Daniel Kalla. He's an emergency room doctor at St. Paul's Hospital. That's the downtown hospital, a scary, junkie-infested place where they can't even keep dispensers of alcohol-based hand wash on the walls because so many people steal them and drink 'em. In case you don't want to follow links, he writes novels about deliberately-started pandemics unleashed by nefarious government agents with genetically modified germs, etc. You might like him!

Bukko:

I do not believe in frivolous lawsuits. They give right wingers ammo when they start screaming about tort reform.

However, I'm a firm believer in suing, in both criminal and civil court, those who do wrong. For instance: My state Department of Revenue essentially made me pay almost $20,000 of child support to a dead woman for nearly nine years because the custodial family of my two sons were fraudulently cashing her checks and the DOR was incurious enough to not check on her status. She died in 1995 and admitted to me recently they didn't know of her death until 2001 and didn't get the death certificate to prove it until Sept. 2003. That means they violated their IV-D status and illegally took nearly 20 grand out of my pocket. They also did nothing to stop or prosecute the family for fraudulently cashing 100 month's worth of checks.

They're claiming best intentions (getting my kids their child support) and ignorance retroactively made that null & void court order legal again and even a legal layman like me knows that's bullshit.

As a result, I have both my state senator and state rep about to jump into this with hammer and tongs (the state rep's a former attorney). And they're both doing this because they see, as I do, this position doesn't pass the smell test.

I'm going to sic the IRS on my state DOR for illegally intercepting about six or seven year's worth of federal tax refunds. And, if I get back all the money the DOR stole from me during those years, I'll use it to put a lawyer on retainer and sue them in civil court. I can easily justify that largely because the DOR is currently trying to destroy my life. They've suspended my driver's license and had cleaned out my bank account last June and almost got Barb and me evicted. This is an example of people who deserve to be sued big time.

Perhaps Cram had a case or at least thought he had one. Perhaps VGH violated his rights, perhaps not. In lieu of any specific information, we'll never know. But I wouldn't accuse him of being merely litigious. After all, a lot of powerful people conspired to shut him up. We know he was committed outside normal protocols (being kidnapped and drugged in front of his building by ten Vancouver cops).

If he was full of shit, as you seem to be claiming, then why the massive conspiracy to keep him and his client quiet?

JP -- late addition to the comments on this post. We just had a friend over who lent credence to what Cram said, and you posted about. You screen all comments as they come in, eh? so this will come to your attention even though the post is more than half a year old.

The friend is another expat American. The most interesting people we've met up here are other American refugees, and people who weren't born in Canada. Canucks are pleasant but bland.

Anyway, we know this guy through an organization called "Village Vancouver" which is focused on getting people to find ways to live after the Peak Oil collapse. Growing your own food in local gardens, raising chickens and bees in your back yard, bicycling rather than driving, etc. He's one of the "smartest guys in the room" and I don't mean that in a snarky way. Involved in local politics, does battle over zoning issues, good civic citizen.

Anyway, completely extraneously when we were having a small party, he starts talking about the Pickton serial killing case, and how the murders were done because the prostitutes were able to identify the powerful people who came out to Pickton's pig farm/biker bar for sex parties. Although there have been pretences about investigations, the truth has never come out, according to our American friend. You might have been on to something here, and my skepticism about how something so big could never be conspired away might be wrong. I hate to be wrong, but if it looks like I am, I'm not ashamed to be persuaded by new information.
