Separate But Equal
Look what Brian Tau of the WSJ found when he was at the GOP convention in Cleveland today:
You got it: Segregated elevators. Word has it that party bosses are scrambling like hookers on Two-For-One Night taking down these racist signs. They and the Trump campaign are also, as does everyone these days, refusing to comment to the media.
We know that a certain white supremacist organization that was responsible for a certain riot in Sacramento had pledged to attend the convention. Perhaps the GOP actually wants them to be there and is just being accommodating to those good ole boys lest they feel they'll be forced into mixin' with the races.
But it utterly astounds me the GOP could be so fucking arrogant and clueless at their own national convention as to put up Jim Crow signs such as this, throwbacks to the 50's in which we still segregated water fountains, schools and made African Americans sit in back of the bus. Did the Republican National Committee not know the press would be there, that people would not think segregated elevators would be a tad anachronistic and that the aforementioned media wouldn't have cameras and social media accounts to document this throwback to the pre-Civil Rights days?
An interesting postscript: If this racist segregation hadn't been turned up by Tau, guess who wouldn't have been allowed to use the white elevators? Former presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, who's speaking at the convention.
You sure know to pick your political parties, Benny boy.
