Some of Us Can Afford
...$12,495 for an ugly jacket that looked as if it had been recycled from a berber rug seized in a Bronx crack house. Others can't afford $12.95 for a pair of used Levis.
It's rather an embarrassing thing to admit that I've been unemployed for nearly the entirety of the Obama administration. I'm not going to lay the entire blame for that on the doorstep at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., even though it can't be said that bringing jobs back here was ever one of Obama's biggest domestic priorities. I, for one, never once believed the figures blared at us after the start of every month from Oceania's Bureau of Labor Statistics.
But it also can't be said prospective employers who look for reasons not to hire someone are also overly enamored of experience and age. They can easily violate the Age Discrimination Act of 1967 by simply not giving you a reason as to why they didn't hire you. Still, it's telling that I had extreme difficulty landing even temporary part time work at minimum wage as soon as I hit 50.
So, with our current finances, we're running about $300-500 behind each month which can dig you in a deep hole in a huge hurry. Those who are helping us are doing all they can but it isn't quite enough. So if you have any spare cash, we'd sure appreciate it if you could make a donation through any of the countless Paypal buttons on the index page.
It being an election year, I'm busting a hump trying to keep up several accounts on Twitter, keep daily fresh content up here as well as producing my own fiction. I'm doing what I can to justify donations and giving you even a middling reason to help us. My ISP is trying to gouge me for more money for the same crappy service, we'll have to turn on the gas heat soon so those bills will increase plus the holidays are coming up.
Ergo, whatever you can spare would be immensely appreciated.
