Relaunch Redux
For those of you who don't know what happened to me last spring, here's a quick rundown:
Last February, I made the colossal mistake of signing on with Next Chapter. Part of the deal was that I sign over complete control of my KDP dashboard. That gave me the heebie jeebies but I figured, WTF and signed the contract.
Well, after endless Amateur Hour theatrics, I'd finally had enough of Miika Hannila and his merry pack of anonymous assclowns (That's right- his "editing staff", which did no discernible editing on my books, refused to give me their names as if they were in the Witness Protection Program ), I decided enough was enough and broke my 10 book contract.
Now, Next Chapter originally bought one book, my latest novel, Hollywoodland. Then they asked me if f it was part of a series, I said it was, so they "bought" my whole catalog.
It wasn't until later on the night I broke the contract that I discovered the pricks had delisted my entire backlist, Now, I don't know if this was their strategy all along, to unpublish my books without replacing them with their editions. But knowing that petulant little twat Miika Hannila, it was probably a last minute dick move when I terminated the contract.
Bottom line, thanks to the assclowns at Next Chapter, I was an unpublished author for the first time in a decade. Now, during this time, my copyediter Tamra Crow has been giving several of my novels a once-over for free. Originally, these copyedits were to be for the Next Chapter editions. But since that's not happening (thank heavens), I'm using these corrected copies to self publish them again.
The night before last, I'd incorporated the last of Tamra's edits for Tatterdemalion. Last night, I'd uploaded all the files for it. Today, the Kindle and paperback versions went live (for the third time). My plan is to rebuild my entire catalog that Next Chapter completely destroyed and, hopefully, I'll have all 10 back on the market by Christmas (culminating with, fittingly, Bridge of Tarnished Angels, my duology of Xmas short stories).
So, if you haven't read Tatterdemalion, yet, now would be good time to introduce yourself to Scott Carson in the cleanest and most corrected copy of the book to date. The Kindle price is still $4.99 and the paperback is a competitive $11.99 (not bad for a 432 page, 193,000 word book).
