Con Man Goes to Conroe

Trump, hiding evidence from the J6 committee.

     Donald Trump held another 90 Minutes Hate last night, this time in Conroe, Texas. That's hardly news-worthy. None of the major networks carry his seven year-old shtick any more, except for Newsmax and, sometimes, OANN. Yet, while the usual tired spiel about stolen elections and how horrible Joe Biden is is old hat, there was something decidedly different about it.

     And by "different", I mean "wear sweatpants in case you won't be able to make to the toilet in time" alarming.

     Mango Mussolini's speech last night was exactly like something you'd hear in a banana republic over state-run radio when the dictator hears the machine gun fire right outside the palace windows. Think Salvadore Allende on September 11, 1973. The difference, of course, is that Allende, who was overthrown in a fascist coup that was engineered and supported by Nixon's junta, had the sense to know that the end was near. There was none of that fatalism in Trump's middling contribution to global warming.

     No, instead, acting as if he was Allende with the enemy at the gates closing in for the kill, Trump remained defiant and essentially put the usually supine DoJ on notice that, if he's convicted, there will be riots in DC, New York and Atlanta. After bizarrely calling the prosecutors "racist" (I guess for anti umber bias), he then tried to bully AGs into investigating Hillary Clinton. Yes, that again.

     For Trump, it may still be 2016 but for the rest of us, it was January 5, 2021 all over again.

     And, in case they were able to get whatever shitty right wing channel that was carrying his speech in the rec room of the DC detention center, he had pardons to dangle in front of them. You know, like the ones he didn't give them the first time and instead gave to white collar criminals like him.

     It was transparent, it was pathetic and it was also dangerous. Not only could this affect the plea agreements among the 725 Capitol rioters, it also set the stage for another January 6th, which he'd already invited by asking for his goons to riot in the likelihood that he's successfully prosecuted and convicted for his countless crimes.

     Well, the prospect for that gave Lady G the vapors, which compelled him to say on CBS today,

     "So I don't want to do anything from raising bail to pardoning people who take the law into their own hands because it will make violence more likely. I want to deter people who did what they did on Jan. 6. And those who did it, I hope they go to jail and get the book thrown at them because they deserve it." 

     As you can expect, that just made the Dollar General Eva Braun, Marjorie Taylor Greene, to spit sewage in Graham's direction.

     Last night's speech was proof positive that Trump's already getting close to pulling out all the stops well in advance of his imminent announcement to run in 2024.
