Personally, I would've preferred impeachment but as long as we got Rep. Pete King out of Congress...
Consider this an open thread. Tell me about your Hurricane (or tropical storm) Irene stories. Posting will be light while I work on the new Assclowns of the Week.

Jayzus! I thought at first it was a photo of an act of animal cruelty, because that thing looked like a rabbit. Maybe it WAS a Gambian pouched rat? Why the fuck anyone would want to keep those as pets (or Madagascar hissing cockroaches, too) is beyond me. And if Norway rats are growing that size, we're doomed, doomed I tell you. The accounts of the rats in those projects are frightening enough if the rates are normal sized.
No hurricane tales from me. I live in a place that's reviled for its rain, and it sits on an earthquake fault, but we've had such great conditions compared to places with a better reputation. People think it sucks to be here, but it seems to be suckier most everywhere else. I feel guilty because my life is so much easier than yours, dude.
Well, maybe financially it is. But as I predicted, we got off real easy partly because the water is so much cooler up here in the N. Atlantic and hurricanes feed off warm water. Plus, we're further inland in central MA so all we got was some rain and stiff 40-50 mph winds. Oh and we lost power for a few hours. All in all, we got off a lot more easily than many.
Wish I could say we only lost power for a few hours. We lost power on Saturday night and just got it back yesterday. Had to throw out everything in my freezer. Most of the perishable stuff in the refridge we had moved to a cooler with ice; you know, milk, eggs, cheese, deli meat. I'm still not sure why we kept the eggs since we couldn't keep them and I'm not much for drinking prairie oysters these days. At least the power is back on, now I get to shop with money I don't have to refill a freezer I couldn't afford to empty. Nice.
Sorry to hear that, Dee. Wish I could help.
Yeah, I know. You and the Mrs are worse off than we are.
