Gotham City Digest

(Because your unfocused, incoherent rage is stronger than public safety.)

When caught in a lie just threaten to kill the messenger.

"No, the biggest story is so big as to be invisible. It’s so obvious as to be silent. The biggest political story of the year is the tens of millions of Americans sheltering in place for the sake of their own well-being and safety, and for the sake of all Americans."

I think by now we can conclude Trump's doing everything in his power to make sure Cohen gets coronavirus.

     More obstruction from Captain COVID.

Great moments in signage: Auschwitz edition. This was taken at the state capital in Springfield, Illinois, which has a Jewish governor, JB Priztker.

Pompous Maximus: "I believe the Chinese virus was manmade."
Also Pompous Maximus: "I don't believe the Chinese virus was manmade."

Why did Smithfield in Sioux Falls, SD get such wishy washy guidance from the CDC? What happened in those two days since they'd written a much sterner report in Colorado?

     Meme intermission.

Trump's war against Inspectors General continues. This is a frightening pattern carried out by a guilty, frightened crook who's desperately trying to evade accountability.

This is a story of a girl with cerebral palsy who wanted to continue going to work to help out senior citizens. She died of COVID-19 days later. Her last paycheck was for $20.64. Meanwhile, corporations are getting bailed out by the trillions.

Epidemiologists estimate 90% of the 65,000+ who've died in the US from COVID-19 could've been saved if the federal gov't had issued shelter-in-place guidelines just two weeks earlier.

You can always count on Republican scum to stand up for the little guy.

Everything Trump and his flunkies have done during this pandemic should be an impeachable offense. We're so busy bailing out billionaires and multi-billion dollar corporations that the hungry and the farmers trying to feed them are getting lost and forgotten in the shuffle.

One of the very few good things to come out of this pandemic is that shelter animal adoptions are soaring. In New Jersey, for instance, drive-thru adoptions are now a thing.

During this pandemic, book mobiles seriously need to make a comeback.

So, this is the country that won two world wars and put a man on the moon, eh?

Swamp creature that owns 10 yachts steals money from 300,000 poor people during pandemic and in violation of a federal court order.

So, in case you were still holding out for the plague of locusts...

I guess this means we're supposed to bail out the third richest guy in the country?

"I'm not the kind.to back down from bullies..." Until today, that is. Hey, Mr. Mayor, has someone forgotten to tell you that have a big police department at your disposal to deal with assholes who make terroristic threats?

She read Moby Dick so you wouldn't have to. Now thank the nice lady.

The new Battle Hymn of the Republic for 2020. (Tip o' the tinfoil hat to Constant Reader, CC.)

The ones who put the "rats" in "Democrats."

It stands to reason that anyone who takes advantage of a global emergency is someone who doesn't deserve that advantage.

Another red letter day for FDR's evil twin. And finally...

While honest, law-abiding, hard working people are just trying to survive this crisis, we're seeing the worst elements of human society cynically using this pandemic to serve their own ends- The police state, corporate executives, Republicans and these assholes.
