Gotham City Digest, Election Day edition

We have on the right side corporate fucksticks and on the left corporate fucksticks. May we have the wisdom to choose wisely.

While I certainly hope and believe the Democrats will take back both chambers of Congress, I'm afraid this midterm will devolve simply on this. The Democrats should've campaigned on much more than, "I'm against Trump." This election will certainly be construed by the pundits as a referendum on Trump and this time, sadly, they'll be right.

An oldie but goodie that I've always loved.

      Thank you, Lyft.

And to you racist, gerrymandering, poll-closing, vote-caging Republican motherfuckers, we WILL remember this today.

As usual, Congress, Republicans especially, are completely out of touch. That's why they're gonna be so surprised when the election results come in tonight.

I don't know if this is real or intended to be satire but I can picture a lot of people in bad red hats fervently believing this despite Putin being a small child in 1963.

Trump is an alchemist that can turn flop sweat into tweets. That's why he'd pre-emptively warned brown people not to vote, a tried-and-true right wing tactic.

This was worth tying up eight cruisers for? This nasty trend is a lot more common than you think. Keeping the homeless hungry is not going to make them disappear. It's just going to make them more desperate for food.

So, of course, Trump's old network airs his offensive and racist campaign ad because filthy lucre isn't politically biased.

“This type of behavior has no place in education and certainly is not tolerated here at Middleton School District,” the statement read. “This situation is being taken very seriously."
So seriously, in fact, they gave them a paid vacation.

Meanwhile, back in Pence Country... One volunteer and unplugged voting machines? I've heard of fiscal responsibility but still...

Meanwhile, in Kemp Country... Yeah, who cares about those white voters who may want to cast a ballot for you? As long as the darkies don't get to vote for Abrams, eh?

Is anyone else half expecting Trump to try to pardon El Chapo and make him head of the DEA?

Remember those corporate fucksticks on the so-called left I had mentioned? Well, here ya go. Your daily dose o' Charlie Pierce.(Tip o' the tinfoil hat to Constant Reader CC.)

Actually, this is translated from the original language of the article. What King, in fact, said was, "Nein, nein! Der Register ist verboten!" And finally...

Where's all this liberal outrage coming from? Goebbels appeared next to Hitler at many rallies and no one raised a stink, then.

(Note: I'll be live-blogging the election results tonight as they come in, so stay tuned.)
