Fuck you, Peter Wehner

     After admitting at the beginning that he checks off a lot of the same policy boxes as Trump, Pete Wehner comes out as a Never Trumper. With what policies does he agree? Caging children? Giving massive tax breaks to those least needy or deserving? Raiding the DoD's budget and spending over a billion dollars on 1.57 miles of wall that blows down in the first stiff wind? Is it deregulating the biggest polluters on the planet so they can turn that planet into an uninhabitable sewer?

     Was it a ruinous and completely unnecessary trade war with China and virtually all of our allies, resulting in higher prices for US consumers and costing many of those consumers their jobs and homes? Was it racking up a deficit in the trillions in a couple of short years? Or was it him walking away from the Paris Climate Accord, the Iran nuclear deal, the UN Human Rights Commission and the INF treaty that allows Russia to once again ramp up its nuclear program?
     Or was it empty deals or agreements with terrorist organizations and belligerent nations run by tinpot dictators that promised only to come to an agreement later, legally non-binding agreements that were forgotten by said terrorists and dictators literally the days they were signed?
     Or was it Trump's willingness to suspend military aid to a vulnerable ally in exchange for an announcement of an investigation into a political rival? Was it the coverup and thé subsequent retaliatory purge of trusted and competent officials?
     Or maybe it was his orchestrating his own impeachment trial with that same Republican establishment whose praises Wehner still sings? Because those feckless pieces of shit with whom Wehner still identifies made Donald Trump possible with their endless compliance even to the point of figuratively torching the Constitution.
     I would love to know how Trump and Wehner still dovetail, where that common ground is. Because while Donald Trump is a Republican on steroids, his monstrous brand of conservatism has permanently warped and distorted it to the point where one has look back to Nazi Germany to find a comparable analog.
     So fuck you, Peter Wehner. You have earned zero points with your pretense to apostasy.
