Gotham City Digest: Mother's Day edition

(Quick, more Burnt Umber #4, stat!.)

Seriously, if you can't even go to a Subway to get a sandwich without having a fucking missile launcher strapped to your back, then you have some very serious security issues.

The REAL Lord of the Flies happened in 1966 and it was nothing like Golding's novel.

The case for investigating UFOs, especially in the wake of the Navy declassifying three UFO videos last month.

This is the fascinating tale of how the world's only feudal overlord manipulated occupying Nazis and eventually beat them at their own game.

This guy hits the nail on the head. Why should right wing elitists order people to go back to work while they're safely ensconced in their home studios?

Not that I really give a shit about the 1% but this senseless, needless callousness in the name of optics underscores this idiotic administration's casual attitude toward COVID-19.

So, last January, Alex Azar received an email from a businessman who owned a medical supply company who'd offered to make 7,000,000 N95 respirators a week. Alex Azar told him to fuck off. One more time for clarity's sake- Our government is out to murder us.

Because Trump reopening his golf courses so the 1% can go out and play again is what really matters.

Why should any of us trust that Trump will keep the country safe when the only one in the White House he's interested in keeping safe is himself?

The good news is we could be shedding a lot of Republicans from the federal government. The bad news is they'll be replaced by mostly Blue Dog Democrats who are hardly any better.

"The Trump administration's flamboyant display of overconfidence, lies, mixed messaging, buck-passing, goalpost-shifting, petulant blame games, incoherent policy reversals, conspiracy theories and anti-scientific balderdash has, in a certain sense, been wondrous to behold. It has certainly been revelatory, in that our nation has shown its ass to the world, and from now until the end of time will not plausibly be viewed as a leading power in science or medicine or public health." -Andrew O'Hehir

Essentially, Trump went apeshit over the the glum economic forecast and blocked the CDC’s February mitigation plan.

     Cartoon/meme intermission.

This is from a Bloomberg journalist. Translation: Mike Pence has COVID-19 because he's such an inflexible Republican asshole that not only does he refuse to wear a mask, he demands everyone else remove theirs as well.

And this is the asshole who wants to reopen the country? He can't even keep his own campaign on the road.

An algorithm used by the federal government is deciding who lives and who dies. Naturally, it hasn't been revealed to the public.

As proof that absolutely nothing has changed in the South since the antebellum era, a black family in North Carolina was terrorized by an all-white lynch mob led by an offduty sheriff's deputy. The responding cops, one of whom was a captain, refused to detain any members of the mob, identify them or do anything. There was no Internal Affairs investigation. And the DA's office is charging them only on misdemeanor counts in an inept attempt to get ahead of any federal lawsuit for impinging on the family's civil rights. The fix is in just as in the wake of the February 23th shooting of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia. And finally...

So, what gets us upset as a people?
Is it the fact the Russians hacked our elections, that the Trump campaign willingly aided and abetted it to that end then went to cartoonish lengths to cover up those crimes?
Is it the fact that as a result of the Russians meddling, a drug-addled, child molesting game show host settled in to the White House and fucked up in every conceivable way?
Is it the fact that he has mismanaged this pandemic to the point that an early 14th century health official would feel better about how they dealt with the Black Plague?
Is it the fact that the economy is cratering and that the actual unemployment figures have met or surpassed the Great Depression's 24.8% unemployment rate?
Is it the fact that trillions were given to bail out corporations not financially stressed by the coronavirus and that the American work force got one-time crumbs and only grudgingly, at that?
No, it's the fact that we're not getting our fucking banana boats quickly enough.
